Overview

The Consumer Loan Processor is responsible for the accurate and timely processing and disbursement of consumer loans, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as well as UWCU policies and procedures. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of loan processing and quality assurance for:

  • Direct vehicle loans
  • Indirect vehicle loans
  • Unsecured loans and lines of credit

Additionally, the Consumer Loan Processor is responsible for developing expertise in the processing of Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC). The position provides both administrative and technical support to retail lenders, management, Consumer Lending staff, dealer partners, and third-party vendors. The Processor contributes to process improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of consumer loan procedures.

Responsibilities

Achievement in Balanced Scorecard Results

  • Meet individual and departmental goals related to document preparation, loan booking, disbursement, member service, and quality assurance.

Consumer Loan Processing Operations

  • Monitor department queues to maintain service levels and to ensure timely and accurate loan funding and disbursement.
  • Process loan applications and track missing documents; follow up with lenders or dealers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Identify, document, and resolve loan exceptions, errors and discrepancies to ensure compliance with internal guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of UWCU consumer lending guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately disburse loan proceeds through loan payoffs, deposits, general ledger transactions, and issuance of cashier’s checks.
  • Maintain dealership records in loan origination and core systems.
  • Scan and file loan documentation; prepare closings via DocuSign; ensure accurate lien recording.
  • Perform daily balancing, journal reviews, and cashier’s check reconciliation.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally across all channels with internal staff, dealer partners, vendors, and members.
  • Ensure timely receipt and accurate review of loan documentation; proactively follow up to resolve outstanding items.
  • Examine and flag loans that have exceeded fund delay thresholds and communicate with dealers to determine and document resolutions.
  • Educate lending staff, members, and dealer partners on loan processes, documentation requirements, and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on consumer loan processing standards, documentation protocols, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve issues, ensure follow-through, and deliver a seamless member experience.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 7 months – 1 year of financial institution experience is required.
