Overview

UW Credit Union’s IT Applications Development team is hiring a dynamic IT Support Engineer II who loves tackling unique challenges with a growth mindset to support daily IT operations.

 

IT Application Development is a team of passionate professionals who deliver a diverse portfolio of technical solutions, including high-performance web applications, integrations and core financial systems that enable the credit union to deliver high quality financial products and services.

 

As the Support Engineer, you'll provide second-level support for our external software users and first-level support for our business partners. Your responsibilities will include monitoring support tickets, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with internal partners, and collaborating with database administrators, software engineers, and DevOps to resolve problems quickly. You'll work in an Agile environment, contributing to our iterative development process.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Evaluate and prioritize incoming support tickets, determining urgency and next steps.
  • Conduct advanced research and problem-solving for internal customer and member issues.
  • Diagnose and analyze complex issues using logs and monitoring tools.
  • Escalate and coordinate fixes with Software Engineers and DevOps teams.
  • Identify and fix code bugs, making necessary software enhancements.
  • Respond efficiently to unplanned events like system failures.
  • Prepare and update technical documentation in a dynamic environment.
  • Assist IT leadership with reporting and data needs using SQL queries.
  • Mentor support engineers, providing technical guidance and managing escalations.
  • Design, configure, and manage integration technologies and core financial systems.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Certification(s), Associates or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or technology related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in Support Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with software development tools and technologies 
  • Progressive Project Management exposure
  • Familiarity with one or more object-orientated programing, scripting, and query languages
  • Experience with integrations such as managed file transfers
  • Hand-on experience with Unisys or mainframe systems, preferred
  • Fluency in version control systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be on-call as needed
