Overview

At UW Credit Union, we take a solution-oriented approach to collections. The Credit Solutions Coordinator will support the Credit Solutions team by serving as the single point of contact for specific collections functions including all credit bureau related tasks and the implementation of processes that support adherence to regulatory requirements.

 

This role will work closely alongside the Credit Solutions Specialists, vendors, credit reporting agencies, and management. The primary responsibilities for the person in this position include data integrity of monthly credit reporting (Metro2), credit bureau disputes, , and maintaining the accuracy of the collection system on accounts referred to external counsel for legal action. This position requires knowledge of lending and collection regulations, systems (e-OSCAR), resources, and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve internal and external credit bureau disputes according to the FCRA.
    Create and maintain documented procedures for internal credit bureau reporting processes including audit processes.
  • Establish relationships with credit bureau contacts for Experian, Equifax, and Transunion and seek input from each where appropriate when making process changes or improvements.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for 3rd party collection agencies. Elevate agency related issues and concerns to management when needed.
  • Advise management on credit reporting emerging trends, new capabilities, and enhancements that would add value to the organization and membership.
  • Partner with internal compliance and legal teams to ensure adherence to all credit compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and leverage data analytics to monitor current operations and to identify opportunities to support decision making and improve process efficiency.
  • Analyze departmental processes to recommend and implement process improvements that will increase efficiency and/or production and improve the member experience.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all credit reporting related items. Support collections team by providing expertise and training as needed.

Qualifications

  • Able to work on-site 3 days per week at our Madison or Milwaukee location.
  • Associate degree in business, related field or equivalent in experience.
  • 3+ years of credit or lending experience.
  • Experience in credit bureau reporting, e-OSCAR, and Metro 2 guidelines and format.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge of FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act)
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to skillfully handle confrontation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Champion of change.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving and system knowledge.
  • Sense of urgency when managing deadlines.
