You will find that onboarding and training is a top priority for UW Credit Union. The first 12-weeks of employment for our Financial Specialists are devoted to you and your learning/training.

 

Your role, as a Financial Specialist, involves understanding members' needs, offering financial education, and making tailored recommendations to help them achieve their financial goals and dreams.

 

As a Financial Specialist, you'll experience the meaningful impact of your assistance, guiding members through pivotal financial moments such as opening their first account, securing loans, and planning for retirement. At UW Credit Union, our focus is on providing personalized solutions that truly benefit each member and making a positive difference in members' lives!

 

Do you have experience with consultative sales and/or recommending products and services to customers? Are you self-motived, curious, empathetic, and solutions-oriented? If yes, then this is the job for you!

 

UW Credit Union currently has 12 branches in the Milwaukee area that hire and staff Financial Specialist. Those branches are Mayfair, Wauwatosa, Elm Grove, West Allis, Waukesha, New Berlin, Bay View, UW-Milwaukee Campus, Bayshore, Franklin, Southridge and Oak Creek. 

 

This Financial Specialist training group has an anticipated start date of January 6th.

Responsibilities

A Day in the life of a Financial Specialist 

Every day will be different but below is a snapshot of what you will do:

  • Start the day at your assigned branch location and meet with you team for a morning huddle to discuss updates and goals for the day
  • Greet members as they come into the branch and be a resource to our members
  • Meet with members to learn about their financial goals and educate them on financial products and services
  • Open up accounts, complete loan applications, answer member questions, and handle transactions
  • Understand all credit union products and services through training and self-guided learning tools
  • Call members to check-in and follow-up on new account activity 
  • Partner with team members to meet the goals for product sales and referrals
  • Be a leader at the branch and serve as a mentor and positive role model for Tellers and Financial Specialists
  • Handle escalations to effectively address critical member needs and concerns

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed

 

These skills and experiences are essential to your success:

  • 3-5 years of customer service and/or consultative sales experience
  • Demonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn a wide range of knowledge and continue to learn and develop your skill-set in a robust feedback environment
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships and provide top-notch service
  • Demonstrated experience being flexible, adaptable, coachable, and collaborative in an autonomous and constantly changing work environment
  • Natural skill-set to lead and influence others
  • Proficiency with personal computer and office software

These attributes and knowledge are desired but not required:

  • 1-2 years of experience working in a financial institution or in a retail leadership role
  • Knowledge of new accounts, savings instruments, and consumer lending
  • Consultative sales experience 

This training class is anticipated to start on January 6th:

  • Virtual, classroom and branch training for the first 12-weeks of employment
  • On the job training at a greater Milwaukee area branch location that will be determined by your start date
  • 3 hours a week dedicated to studying to pass the Credit Life Credit Disability (CLCD) Exam
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities including but not limited to transparent dialogs, resources, tools, and technical learning modules
