Overview

UW Credit Union’s People, Strategies, & Solutions (Human Resources) department is looking for a Talent Acquisition (HR) Intern to join our team.

 

This internship will start in May/June of 2024.

 

The Talent Acquisition (HR) Intern supports all functional areas of HR with a primary focus on the recruitment and administration of the recruitment functions. You will gain exposure to full cycle recruiting, recognition programs, human resources metrics, employee referral programs, compensation, federal and state employment laws and regulations, talent development support and administration, and more.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Talent Acquisition Intern

Every day will be different but below is a snapshot of what you will do:

  • Start the day off joining our People, Strategies and Solutions department and Talent huddles, or connecting with members of the Talent Acquisition team
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition and management team on recruitment efforts for non-exempt positions
  • Review approved requisitions to create and post available job opportunities
  • Spend time in our Applicant Tracking System reviewing applications, scheduling phone interviews, coordinating virtual and in-person interviews, conducting background checks, extending offer documents, start pre-board, and initiating new employee set-up
  • Check the employment in-box and badge request group and respond to necessary emails and handle any needed tasks
  • Collaborate with our Human Resources team to support assigned projects and administrative tasks
  • Contribute to Human Resources administrative activities that include supporting I9 completion, job description updates, referral tracking and payouts, and more
  • Coordinate and represent UW Credit Union at career fairs and networking/hiring events to attract top talent and continue to build UW Credit Union's employment brand 
  • Manage monthly department wide supply orders along with tracking and ordering inventory for networking and hiring events 
  • Attend team and department wide meetings necessary to the success of your role and learning development

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed

These skills and experiences are essential to your success:

  • 2 semesters of coursework in an accredited college or technical school with declared major in Human Resources or related field
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and autonomy in establishing priorities, completing assignments and projects, and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

These attributes and knowledge are preferred but not required:

  • Participation in a student professional organization such as SHRM, ASTD or similar organization
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a professional office setting
  • Exposure or knowledge of pertinent laws including but not limited to: FLSA, Title VII, ADA, EEOC
