  • Overview

    UW Credit Union’s IT team is growing and hiring for a Microsoft SQL Server database administrator! If you love collaborating with highly-skilled developers and infrastructure teams while serving as the subject matter expert for the database platform, this is the job for you. You would play a key role in recommending new strategies while having hands-on development in our expanded Data & Analytics environment.

     

    As the SQL Server database administrator, you demonstrate comfort and familiarity with each layer, if not master in many, with a passion and interest in database and SQL tools. Data modeling, proactive administration, performance tuning, and focusing on the member needs is where you shine. You have a genuine interest to make life easier for those that work around the systems and functions you support while being a team member of Wisconsin’s top financial institution.

    Responsibilities

    • Involvement in all aspects of the SDLC from initial database and table design to production deployment and support. 
    • Full range of DBA responsibilities, including high availability between primary and secondary data centers
    • Ground floor involvement in our expanded data and analytics environment. Serve as a key-contributor for strategic recommendations and play a pivotal role in its development
    • Application Development aspects including specific file interfaces and reporting processes
    • Support and maintenance of database aspects of internally developed applications and third-party systems
    • Actively lead and participate in new release upgrades of software and hardware
    • Performance tune in-house and third-party databases as required. This will include creating and re-organizing indexes, optimizing job schedules, and creating stored procedures and functions.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 
    • Expert knowledge of current supported versions of Microsoft SQL Server.
    • A minimum of 3 years of database programming and software maintenance experience in a SQL Server environment, including working with end users.
    • Detailed understanding and experience with relational database modeling concepts, including the use of Primary Keys, Unique Keys, Foreign Keys, Triggers, Views, Stored Procedures, Table Joins, Normalization and Entity Relationship Diagrams.
    • Detailed understanding of SQL performance tuning techniques and tools.
    • Experience with SQL data transformation tools.
    • Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills.
