Overview

*This is a year-long internship with an anticipated start date in February/March 2018. 

 

The Talent Acquisition Intern supports all functional areas of HR with a primary focus on the recruitment and administration of the recruitment functions. With the guidance of the Manager of Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, this position partners with management on the recruitment efforts for non-exempt positions for all departments within UW Credit Union. This includes job postings, scheduling interviews, references, communications to candidates, phone interviews, and assisting with new employee orientation. In addition to recruitment support, this position assists with recognition, metrics, employee referral program and assistance completing of all regulatory processes. Other functions include: preparing correspondence, maintaining files and records, and conducting special projects. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy in respect to all information that is processed throughout the Human Resources and Organizational Development.

 

This position must effectively carry out the essential duties of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates the core values of the organization in a positive manner.

 

Responsibilities

1) Recruitment and Staffing - 85%

a. With the guidance and support of the Manager of Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, conducts a variety of recruitment activities: posting jobs, preparing reports, participating in recruitment meetings and providing feedback/support when possible.

b. Responsible for full cycle of recruitment for non-exempt jobs, specifically Tellers, Interns, and Member Solutions Center roles.

c. Thoroughly perform all necessary pre-employment background checks for potential hires.

d. Coordinate and represent UWCU at networking events and area career fairs, representing UWCU’s Employment Brand in a positive professional manner.

e. Ensure adherence to all related federal and state employment laws and regulations.

f. Assists with preparation of metrics, regulatory reporting, and recruitment administration as requested.

g. Responsible for consistent and accurate use of an ATS (applicant tracking system) to track full-cycle recruitment.

 

2) Human Resources/Talent Development Support & Administration - 15%

a. Provide administrative support for other HR/TD functions.

b. Assists with exit interviews as needed.

c. Administers the exit interview process.

d. Participate in HR/OD staff meetings

e. Supports the development and maximization of the Learning Management System.

f. Assists with the training preparation.

g. Assists with preparation and execution of New Employee Orientation.

h. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education/Experience/Skills:  

-Two semesters of coursework in an accredited college or technical school with declared major in Human Resources or related field preferred.

-1-2 years experience working in a professional office setting.

-Student in good standing with school.

-Participation in a student professional organization such as SHRM, ASTD or similar organization preferred.

-Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications, (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Power Point & Excel).

-High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

-Strong attention to detail in establishing priorities completing assignments and projects and meeting deadlines.

-Ability to represent a professional image.

-Knowledge of office administration procedures.

-Ability to operate standard office equipment.

-Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.

-Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.

-Knowledge of all pertinent laws including but not limited to: FLSA, Title VII, ADA, EEOC etc.
