The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for the execution of multichannel graphic design, for internal and external marketing communications. The individual portrays the brand by integrating visual imagery, verbal messaging, and graphic elements, ensuring consistency across channel. This position follows established brand standards. The individual must be creative, and be a team player with strong communication skills.
Must effectively carry out the essential duties of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates the core values of the Organization in a positive manner.
1) Creative Services - 70%
a. Responsible for the execution of multichannel graphic design, such as print, web, digital, and social media for the credit union’s external and internal communications.
b. Support graphic design innovation through assigned research, brainstorming, layout and design exploration.
c. Maintain and follow brand guidelines within all created pieces.
d. Take projects from start to finish under the direction of the Graphic Design Supervisor or Senior Graphic Designer.
e. Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials.
f. Collaborate with copywriters and other designers for best visual/verbal balance.
g. Recommend stock photography.
h. Route and obtain design approvals for projects, implementing feedback as needed.
i. Meet deadlines while ensuring high quality work.
j. Create and maintain accurate files and file structure.
k. Prepare final artwork and submit files to vendors on schedule.
2) Partner Relationships - 20%
a. Partner effectively within the marketing department and with other business units in the organization.
b. Present work in team meetings; seek and provide constructive feedback.
c. Follow established processes and support continuous process improvement by providing feedback.
d. Maintain project list and communicate deadlines to partners.
e. Coordinate with vendors on production schedule, technical execution, file delivery. Work with Graphic Design Supervisor or Senior Graphic designer to approve vendor proofs.
f. Work within project budget scope. Ensure efficient, cost effective solutions.
g. Bid out print projects, and select printers based on cost, quality, service, and delivery.
h. Monitor industry trends and competitors. Mentor with other team members to explore new industry methods or techniques.
3) Development - 10%
a. Train on all aspects of the Graphic Designer role.
b. Maintains technical knowledge through professional publications, online or classroom instruction.
c. Responsible for Individual Development Plan.
-Two semesters of accredited college or technical school coursework in Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
-1-2 years of expereince working in a professional office setting preferred. - Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and Acrobat Pro.
- Proficient knowledge in print and digital production and file preparation.
- Experience in HTML/CSS email is a plus.
- Exerience in Microsoft Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
